Practical Guide for your first 90 days living and serving cross culturally
Explore the 7 modules of "Launch!"...
Module 1: Your Role, Relationships and Guide
Work towards finding and effectively communicating a long-term viable role to help you enter with integrity, stay well and explain why you are there. Develop a close, effective relationship with at least one mentor to guide you through your first 90 days “on the field” as together you use FIG – the Field Internship Guide - to help you each step of the journey.
Module 2: Home Front Partners
Start to develop a strong, mutual support base of powerful prayer, practical and financial help. Communicate with your home front cheer-leading team to sustain you and your ministry for the long haul. Be a good steward of your talent, time and treasure.
Module 3: Team Work and Self-Care
Learn principles and develop strategies to staying healthy in every sense, so you can thrive not just survive. Proactively play your part in God’s family; become a constructive, caring member of your multi-cultural team.
Module 4: Spiritually Alive and Alert
Learn how to maintain a dynamic spiritual life centred on the Lord Jesus. Discern spiritual obstacles. Proactively pave the way for God to move in power through worship and intercession.
Module 5: Cultural Immersion
Develop an incarnational, salt and light lifestyle. Work towards becoming a godly insider through initiating and implementing your own cultural acquisition strategy. Learn to respect, love and understand the worldview of your new community and to communicate Christ’s light effectively within that context.
Module 6: Language Acquisition
In line with your team’s approach, initiate and implement your own language learning strategy, using a variety of tools and resources. Learn how to connect deeply with the local community through the language learning process and build meaningful relationships with your target group.
Module 7: Inviting Others to Know Him and Make Him Known
As part of God’s wider team, prayerfully, humbly and confidently explore holistic, culturally relevant strategies, which can lead towards Disciple Making Movements. Know your gifts and calling and confidently step out in playing your part in Kingdom multiplication.
